It's that time of your year again. Are you struggling to find something for a Discworld-loving family member or friend? Well search no more. Like previous years diaries, this year's focuses on one particular area of the Discworld Universe. This year is Lu-Tze's and the various monks and orders of Discworld.
Lu-Tze is a monk who is reputably meant to be six thousand year-old and inhabits the higher Ramtop Mountains. A small, bald wispy bearded man with a grin waits around for something amusing to happen. One of the history monks, a follower of the ways of Mrs Marietta Cosmopilite, in search of Perplexity, his home the Monastery of Oi Dong. A place that can be only found if you're not looking for it.
The diary encompasses an 'Introduction To Lu-Tze', 'The Monestry Of Oi Dong', 'The Garden Of Five Surprises', 'The Way Of Mrs Cosmopilite' and various other orders and monks of Discworld. This is accompanied by wonderful monk-orientated illustrations by Paul Kidby, as is the rest of the diary pages. Also are treated on Octeday to excerpts from 'The Way Of Mrs Cosmopilite', for example:-
'Mrs Cosmopilite says: Don't put that in your mouth, you don't know where it's been.
The seeker says: There is only now,so there is no 'Been'.'
There's a notice-board with various (real) adverts for various Discworld goodies. The only real downside is you could have only a relatively small amount of space on a page for each day so if you're one for writing a lot in your diary or like to keep a journal you may have to look elsewhere. For the rest of us, this is a rather nice diary for next year.
