Summer has a little problem. She has a klutz for a dad and isn't good at anything Imagine her surprise when she is taken by her dad, Jasper, to an academy for super-heroes. She is sort of pleased but fearful that she will not have any super-powers. Summer meets lots of people and potential friends. Thunderclap can run real fast and Tommy Truehart can burst into flames. She feels kind of hot next to him as well (blush!).
But Summer doesn't make a good first impression and no one can decide what her power might be. She is alone and unhappy and then there is her dad who has his own dark secret.
Meanwhile, at Graves Academy, the super-villains are preparing a final push against the heroes. They have a cunning plan that may finally tip the balance of power away from the caped crusaders. Who will win the day?
Peppered with charming illustrations by the author, this is the book that made my daughter read Science Fiction. I've got my fingers crossed that this is a significant moment in her life as she has previously proved resistant to SF's charms. It's an easy read for eight pluses with some good humour, gadgets and suitably grim and quite scary villains!
I love this book and think it is a great introduction to the world of super-heroes. Up, up and away!
